The book was written by a group of botanists and zoologists of the Botanical Garden (Institute) and the Institute of Zoology of the Academy of Sciences on basis of the material gathered as a part of the scientific research conducted in recent decades and was published with the financial support of the National Environmental Fund of Ministry of Environment and "Moldsilva" Agency.

In the work "Lower Prut" Reserve, the diversity of flora and fauna of an area of great value for biodiversity conservation are described. 310 species of vascular plants are enumerated and there is a brief description ecological, geographical attributes, etc. of each species. There is given a phytosociological characterization of vegetation in the book and there are described 40 plant associations. The multiannual and seasonal dynamics, vegetation zonation are separate chapters of the work.

The handbook consists of two chapters - General Floriculture - which contains general concepts about morphology of decorative plants and their classification, relationships with environmental factors, reproduction and agrotechnics, improvement and reproduction of seeds, harvesting, storage of floricultural products and protection of ornamental plants. The second chapter - Special Floriculture - includes the biomorphological description, ecology, reproduction and use of annual, biennial and perennial, open field ornamental plants, etc. 673 species of flowering plants are described.

The regularities of adaptation of annual ornamental plants to pedoclimatic conditions of the Republic of Moldova are determined. Problems concerning plant growth and development, biological peculiarities of flowering and fruiting, water regime and drought resistance, the influence of trace elements by extraroot method and bacterial fertilizers on growth and development of annual ornamental plants are exhibited. It is represented the assortment of annual ornamental plants recommended to be used for creating green spaces and as cut flowers.

In the monograph, there is generalized knowledge of cytology and cytogenetics of grapevine; presented data on cytological study of approx. 2000 varieties of Vitis vinifera, V.labrusca, clones of V.rotundifolia, V.sylvestris, spontaneous species of the genera Vitis, Cissus, Cyphostemma, Rhoicissus, Tetrastigma, Ampelopsis, Parthenocissus. The karyosystematics of vitaceae has been completed and a new classification of fam. Vitaceae Juss. has been developed; the origin of the crop species (V.vinifera L.) was analyzed in detail; the complete characterization and diagnosis of polyploid forms of grapevine has been presented; comprehensive data about distant hybridization, synthesis of new genome, creation of non-grafted, own rooted, resistant to phylloxera grapevine has been presented.

The volume I of the monograph "Flora of Bessarabia" consists of 2 parts. The general part includes elucidation of natural conditions of Bessarabia (relief, climate, soils and vegetation), geological history and origin of the current Bessarabian flora, history of floristic research, description of geobotanical districts. The special part includes general characterizations of phyla, classes, families, genera of soporiferous higher plants and gymnosperms recorded in the spontaneous flora of Bessarabia and adjacent territories. All species (182 species of 98 genera, 52 families and 5 phyla) covered by this volume are accompanied by black and white illustrations, synonyms, detailed descriptions of morphological, biological and ecological characters, indicating the areas of distribution on Earth, domains of use, and, for rare species, their degree of risk to be extinct is indicated. “Dendrology” consists of two parts: First part - General Dendrology - which contains required knowledge for the university course in question on the notion of area, ecological factors, morphology of vegetative and reproductive organs. It provides data on introduction of woody plants in Moldova; dendrologic districts, inventory of taxonomic diversity in cultivated dendroflora and phenological spectra of 150 species and forms. In the second part - General Dendrology - more than 500 species, forms and varieties of Pinophyta and Magnoliophyta are described with a detailed analysis of morphological and phenological characteristics, environmental requirements, ornamental value, social and economic importance, their distribution in the respective dengrologic districts and illustrative with about 400 images.

The vegetal world of Moldova "Flowering plants III”, Vol. IV includes plants of the spontaneous flora of Moldova, class Liliopsida (Monocotyledones). Volume IV contains a brief description of 164 species of vascular plants. The selection and inclusion of species in the volume has been performed according to their floristic and phytocenotic role in the green cover of the Republic of Moldova. Preference has been given to dominant species, edifying and indicatory plants of spontaneous vegetation communities, being presented almost all rare species, primarily those included in the Red Book of the Republic of Moldova.

153 species of wild and cultivated medicinal, very useful plants were described. Each plant species is legitimized by its common and scientific name, followed by its inclusion in a family, other popular names under which it is known. A brief botanical description follows for its recognition, spreading across the globe, chemical composition, raw material description, methods of cultivation, harvesting and use in medicine, food industry etc.

The level of air pollution in Chisinau was assessed, a city map was drawn showing areas according to the level of pollution. The assortment of woody plants for creation and arrangement of green areas in urban and rural areas was recommended.

The monograph summarizes the results obtained during several years, studying the biomorphological peculiarities of Callistephus chinensis (L) Ness., whose varieties have been introduced and adapted to the pedoclimatic conditions of the Republic of Moldova. It is presented the classification, description of groups and 367 varieties intended to be used as cut flowers, for the arrangement of green and other spaces. There are presented the most important methods of cultivation, amelioration, production of seeds and combating diseases and pests. It is recommended the assortment of China asters intended to be used as cut flowers (90 varieties) and for the arrangement of green spaces (42 varieties).

The Identification Manual is a practical manual for identification (determination) of Latin and Romanian names of species of vascular plants (Equisetophyta, Pteridophyta, Pinophyta, Magnoliophyta) of the spontaneous flora of Moldova.
The number of taxa from the Identification Manual includes 4 phyla, 5 classes, 11 subclasses, 78 orders, 136 families, 616 genera and over 1820 spontaneous species. Unlike the previous Identification Manual written in Russian by T.Gheideman (1986), the present work includes 50 new taxa for the flora of the Republic of Moldova (5 families, 6 genera and over 40 species).
The set of images contains analytical and general drawings of 1030 plant species, including the species of vascular plants from the Red Book of Moldova.
The Botanical Explanatory Dictionary (pag.341) contains over 400 botanical and technical terms included in various textual compartments of the Identification Manual.

The work has been carried out within the research project of the Laboratory of Flora and Geobotany of the Botanical Garden (Institute) of ASM since 1989.

The work includes a presentation of the main indices of ambient environmental factors (humidity, trophicity, soil chemical reaction, thermophity and halophyty) of 881 vascular plant species with meadow habitat and their degree of endangerment; habitat affinities of indicator plants; phytocenotaxonomic study (according to the principle of Braun-Blanquet J. school) highlighting 42 associations of calcium habitat, 20 of sodium stations and 58 synanthropic plant associations; characteristics of 22 sectors with vegetation of representative meadow grasslands under state protection and 30 new surfaces proposed to be taken under protection; as well as re-naturalization of degraded grasslands exemplifying them by sectors with calcium and sodium habitat.
The book is intended for teachers, students, scientific researchers in the field of geobotany, ecology, pedology, agriculture, forestry and for those who are interested in the problems of knowledge, careful treatment, re-naturalization and sustainable use of grasslands from meadows of rivers. The monograph comprises 452 pages, 340 references, 38 tables, 244 figures.
